Manufacturers need faster throughput, tighter tolerances, and fewer production errors. Automated fastener insertion systems help improve consistency, reduce manual handling, and increase overall production efficiency.
For that reason, ESF has brought the Haeger 824 OneTouch 5e Lite Dual 350 Modular Auto Feed System Press online. The Haeger is built for high-volume PEM fastener insertion, self-clinching hardware installation, and sheet metal assembly where speed and repeatability matter.
Faster Production Through Automation
The new 350 MAS Modular Auto Feed System allows the Haeger 824 to perform up to 1,400 insertions per hour while maintaining consistent insertion accuracy across fastener sizes ranging from M2 to M12 (#2-56 to 1/2″).
Operators can install four different fasteners during a single part handling cycle, including:
- Two automatically fed fasteners
- Two manually loaded fasteners
This reduces unnecessary part repositioning and keeps production moving during high-volume runs.
The Dual Automatic Upper Tool Changer switches tooling automatically in approximately 10 seconds. No manual tool changes. No production delays between jobs.
Fastener Verification and Process Control
The Haeger 824 uses multiple detection systems to verify hardware before every insertion cycle.
Integrated quality control features include:
- Stud and Standoff Length Detection
- Shuttle Presence Detection for nuts, studs, and standoffs
- Fastener Detection on dual insertion stations
- Vacuum Generator with Tip Recognition
These systems identify missing hardware, incorrect fasteners, and feed interruptions before defective parts move downstream.
Built for High-Mix Production Environments
- The OneTouch platform supports insertion of nuts, studs, and standoffs on a single machine.
- Operators can switch between multiple hardware types without reconfiguring the entire system.
- Built-in Insertion Logic Software guides setup through a programming wizard displayed on a 15-inch touchscreen interface designed for shop-floor use, including operation while wearing gloves.
Force Control for Demanding Applications
- The press delivers an insertion force of 1,000 to 16,000 lbs. (3.6 to 72 kN).
- Positive Stop technology enables controlled, low-force insertions into softer materials such as aluminum, where force consistency is critical.
- The integrated Tooling Protection System (TPS) helps prevent damage to tooling and machine components during high-force insertion cycles.
- The machine runs on a secure Linux operating system and features a 24-inch throat depth (610 mm) for larger workpiece capacity.
- Designed for automated hardware insertion, sheet metal manufacturing, and high-volume fastening applications where uptime, repeatability, and process control directly affect production output.
